The braking resistor of the ES2G electric train functions as an electrical load for traction motors operating in generator mode during rheostatic braking and is designed to convert braking energy into heat when it cannot be fed back into the overhead contact system.
The resistor was developed as part of an import substitution program for components for Russian Railways.
It is used in ES2G, ES2GP, and ESP1 series electric trains.
Climatic design: U1 in accordance with GOST 15150-69.
The braking resistor complies with the requirements of the Technical Regulation of the Customs Union TR CU 001/2011 “On the Safety of Railway Rolling Stock” and has a certificate of conformity.
