The electrodynamic braking unit is designed to dissipate electrical energy as heat generated by braking resistors installed within the enclosure.

It is used in the TEM18DM shunting diesel locomotive.

The unit is mounted on the roof of the locomotive.

Climatic design: UHL1 in accordance with GOST 15150-69.
